Hawaii-5: Volcanoes National Park, Big Island
Our first port of call on the Pride of Hawaii was at Hilo, Big Island. And our plan was to visit the Volcanoes National Park first and then, depending on the time we had go to other places. As always we have a write-up on our travel blog here.
The steam vents: The earth is so hot just a few layers below the surface and as a result you see steam coming out from the fissures in the soil. An impressive sight. Also, due to the heat underground, trees do not grow in this area, only grass and shrubs.

A Sculpture of Nature:
This sea arch was formed by sea erosion of the volcanic rock formed when the hot lava flowed into the ocean.

So am I (Jealous!) Hawaii, Honolulu, Waikiki, hmmmmm.....exotic places!
